YOUNG PEOPLE RAISE MONEY & AWARENESS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH

RECOVERY Assistance Dogs WOOF & WAG their tails with gratitude to all the NCS Young People because they raised over £1645 this Summer for the Charity.
They helped raise the profile about RAD and its Big successful (because it's non-invasive & free choice) Youth Project for training Assistance Dogs for Young People.
They spread the word about how wonderful our dogs are.
They enjoyed talking to the wider public about Mental Health to raise our profile.
They stood together with the dogs to destroy discrimination and stigma about Mental Health.
They raised the money to pay for a Puppy's Training.

RECOVERY Assistance Dogs are an organisation based in Leicester that helps people recover from Mental Health difficulties, by training their dog to become an Assistance Dog to help them in the home and in the community.
Everyone is welcome to come fundraising with RAD. People are trained and shown how to do it according to the Council Rules.

Liz Maitland, KCAI is the Lead Dog Trainer at RAD says: “My RAD Dog Milli (age 9 years) has helped keep me out of hospital and since I’ve had her as a Pup I’ve not felt suicidal. This is a great Charity with a tremendous mission to help people recover their Mental Health & Wellbeing. Last year we helped 118 people keep out of hospital by training their dog.”
Tina Smith a volunteer at RAD says “My puppy was too much of a challenge for me to look after, so RAD are helping socialise her. I am grateful for this as it as given me the respite I needed.”
If you would like to volunteer at RAD or have a Mental Health Need that you feel would benefit from having your dog trained. Please contact 07581282899 or email info@RECOVERYAssistanceDogs.org.uk

FABULOUS FUNDRAISING FROM NCS YOUNG PEOPLE

OVER 100 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM NATIONAL CITIZEN SERVICE RAISE FUNDS OF £4485 AND AWARENESS ABOUT RECOVERY DOGS

How RECOVERY Assistance Dogs started.
RAD started in July 2004 with the aim to help people to find freedom from force and fear within Mental Health. We spread the word about how people can recover from Mental Health problems with the help of dogs and other Creative Therapies.

The RECOVERY Dogs Mission
RECOVERY is a charity for Wellbeing that sets Survivors free from Mental Health needs with the healing of memories through Creative Therapies.
RECOVERY Assistance Dogs for Mental Health are trained in three levels to assist Survivors to recover from their symptoms and find wellbeing.
We campaign against compulsion and for freedom of choice.

What the Funding is for.

The funding is to train a puppy as a RECOVERY Assistance Dog for a client that is unable to do so due to lack of knowledge about dogs. RAD is looking for funding for:

The training of a RECOVERY Assistance Dog from puppy to 1 year old when it will pass its level 1 access test and be able to wear a RAD Vis Jacket.

It will benefit: People with Mental Health problems that need a well trained dog for their wellbeing. STRAD Buddies, Dog Trainers and Assistant Dog Trainers will facilitate this.

What will Shalom’s training achieve? This pilot project overcomes social challenges by enabling Mental Health Survivors

· To get out of the house

· To feel safe and stable

· To be free from force and fear

· Social inclusion

· Stop anxiety and panic attacks

We spent the whole of last week planning our fundraising events for this week! Bianca, Sarina and Kerry started off the fundraising by holding a cake sale at Kerry's primary school! The outcome was fab as all the cakes sold out 🍰

Then the Saturday; Rebecca, Sofia and Clare had a stall set up at a popular dog show selling dog bandanas, treats and more!!

On Monday morning we went to Tesco in Melton and bag packed for the whole day. On Tuesday, we held our main event we held a party at streetlife club and had around 160 guests! It was an amazing night and we raised a good amount of money!!

Wednesday we spent in Blaby collecting money from around the town centre and on Thursday we went back to Melton Tesco to finish off our bag packing! The customers were so lovely and appreciated our work.

We are spending tomorrow in Braunstone collecting money from the town centre. We finish the week off on Sunday at the Peepul's Centre holding a coffee morning!

We have many donations already and are selling cakes, tea, coffee, doing a raffle and much more!
